UT Dallas Management Professor M. Cakanyildirim Wins Harold H. Kuhn Award
August 28, 2007Dr. Metin Cakanyildirim, a professor in The University of Texas at Dallas School of Management, has won the Harold H. Kuhn Award for the best paper published in the last three years by the operations management journal Naval Research Logistics (NRL).
Cakanyildirim and his co-authors, Drs. Tim Woonghee Huh of Columbia University and Robin O. Roundy of Cornell University, will receive the award at the 2007 annual meeting of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) in Seattle Nov. 4-7.
Their paper, “A General Strategic Capacity Planning Model under Demand Uncertainty,” addresses how planning decisions for manufacturing capacity affect future revenue.
NRL established the Kuhn Award in 2005 to recognize exceptional papers published in the journal. Members of the NRL editorial board recommend papers and a committee selects the winning article each year.
Cakanyildirim joined the UT Dallas School of Management in 2000 after earning his Ph.D. degree in operations research from Cornell. He is on the editorial board of Production and Operations Management, and International Journal of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management.
