About 30 workers from Westbrook Construction are now on site building all of the forms. Hensel Phelps workers manage the concrete.
The grade beam walls are nearly complete.
"Pan Deck" forms for the floor over the crawl space are being built in the sections where the grade beams are already complete. Work on both major components proceeds simultaneously. The first section of pan deck will be ready for pouring concrete by next Thursday.
Ryan Llewellyn, Iowa State engineering intern, assists Hensel Phelps Field Engineers to sight control points on the construction site. Control points and elevations are verified throughout the construction process so that any necessary corrections can be made as early as possible.
Safety Supervisor, Tyrone Young, says that safety is a primary concern on the construction site, the goal is zero accidents. He trains every worker who joins the project regarding the OSHA,
UTD, and company safety policies. He monitors, advises and tracks safety errors.
By tracking worker safety mistakes he can identify trends, anticipate potential
problems and head them off. "We work as a team and take care of each other."
Speed limit signs were recently added to slow down the heavy equipment.
