About the Construction Schedule
Area Designations for New Building
The building construction is being managed in four areas or sections, labeled counter-clockwise from the Northwest corner as areas A, B, C, and D. Teams of specialty contractors move from area to area. Each team completes tasks that are preliminary to tasks to be completed by a following team. Each area of the building is in a different stage of construction, but work on all areas proceeds simultaneously. At this time, the areas are being completed in reverse order.

Ceiling arch in executive dining roomThe faculty and staff will begin to occupy the building in a few short weeks. Tentatively, the building will be released to the owners on the 21st of July. By that time, the building will be tied into the campus Energy Management System. The installation of office furniture will begin on the 21st with occupancy beginning a week later.

About 75% of the fixed classroom tables have been installed. Auditorium seating installation will begin on July 1. Installation of lockers on the second floor will also begin soon.
 
Looking South and up from the courtyardNinety-eight percent of all building lights are now powered. Fifty percent of the ceiling grids are complete. The temporary electrical service that has been used by the construction crews will be removed this weekend. A power shut-down will occur the following weekend to allow workers to perform a final cleaning on the switch gear

Network connections on classroom tablesThe carpet for the third and fourth floors is nearly complete; many of the classrooms on the first and second floors are also now carpeted. Tiles are being installed for stairwells and for hallways on the first two floors.

Exterior glass installation is complete, caulking and sealing are in progress. Installing glass, 4th floor office doorSome remedial work is being done to the roof in section D due to leaks.

Site concrete work is 90% complete. Installation of the landscaping irrigation system will begin in the next few days. About 60 trees are on site ready for planting.

There have been 126 continuous days without a loss time accident. Approximately 251 workers are on site today:

  • Burns & Park Painting (interior painting): 26 people
  • CEI Roofing (all roofing): 6 people
  • Copeland Concrete: 8 people
  • Custom Flooring: 10 people
  • Dee Brown Inc. (masonry) 3 people
  • Dickey's Landscaping: 2 people
  • Elite Fire Protection (sprinkler systems): 10 people
  • Fuhr (operable partitions) to start this week
  • Gomez Tile: 10 people
  • Hensel Phelps (office & field personnel): 24 people
  • Jennings Glass (glaziers): 7 people
  • Knickerbocker (partitions) 5 people
  • PDV Associates (fire extinguishers) to start this week
  • Perfection Opening Plus (doors & hardware) 6 people
