Noticeable progress has been made since June 24. The second level deck for area D is nearly complete. Steel work is underway to complete the second level deck for
area D and part of area C. Approximately 500 cubic yards of concrete will be poured next Tuesday for these two areas.
As of today, 132 first level columns have been poured.
Twenty-four remain to be poured to complete the first level columns for the entire building.
Part of the slab for area A was poured this morning (68 cubic yards). Approximately 200 cubic yards of concrete will be poured next Monday to complete the slab. Before concrete for the slab is poured, the ground is treated with Dursban TC, a termiticide concentrate, and then covered with a vapor barrier. The termiticide prevents termites. The vapor barrier prevents moisture from seeping through the floor, which could damage the
building interior.
Areas A and B are "slab-on-grade." The remainder of the building is constructed over a 3 foot 6 inch high crawl space.
Work was slowed down for two days because of rain. To keep on schedule, the construction crew worked last Saturday, and will work again this Saturday.
To date, building construction has used 500 tons of steel, and over 4,995 cubic yards of concrete.
A broken wrist capped the project's record with no lost time accidents at 133 days. The current record stands at 9 days.
