Textbooks and Research Books
Textbooks authored by our leading faculty are being used and studied around the world. Prof. Greg Dess' Strategic Management (coauthored with Lumpkin and Eisner, now in its 4th edition) is widely used throughout the world, with translations in Chinese, Portuguese, and Serbian as well as a Canadian adaptation and a UK/European adaptation.
Prof. Mike Peng's Global Strategy (now launching its 2nd edition) is used in over 20 countries, and has been translated into Chinese and Portuguese. Building on the success of Global Strategy, Prof. Peng has most recently published Global Business, and is working on a paperback Global Business Express.
Our faculty are also active in publishing research books. In 2006, Prof. Richard Harrison coauthored (with G. Caroll) Culture and Demography in Organizations. In 2003, Prof. John Lin coauthored (with K. Carley) Designing Stress Resistant Organizations.

- In 2008, in international business, UT Dallas was ranked as the 12th highest ranked school worldwide (and the 6th highest ranked in the United States—behind Michigan State, Rutgers, Temple, Miami, and NYU) in a study by Xu et al. in the Asia Pacific Journal of Management.
Our faculty are active in leadership positions in our profession. At the Strategic Management Society (SMS), three UTD professors currently serve as officers—M. Peng is Chair of the Global Strategy Interest Group, D. Deeds is Program Chair of the Entrepreneurship Interest Group, and G. Dess is a representative at large for the Strategy Process Interest Group. UTD thus has the largest contingent among current SMS officers. In addition, M. Peng also co-chaired the SMS Special Conference on China Strategies in Shanghai, May 2007. At the Academy of International Business (AIB), M. Peng co-chaired the AIB/JIBS Research Frontiers Conference in San Diego, November 2006, and is currently guest editing a special issue for the Journal of International Business Studies based on the conference theme "Asia and Global Business." At the Academy of Management (AOM), M. Peng serves as program chair for the Junior Faculty Consortium at the International Management Division in Atlanta, August 2006, attracting 8 senior colleagues and 18 junior faculty members around the world.
Our faculty are not only acknowledged and respected externally, they are also highly valued at UTD (and also at the UT System). G. Dess holds the Andrew Cecil Chair in Management. M. Peng has been designated the Provost's Distinguished Professor of Global Strategy, a position specifically created by UTD in order to attract him to join our faculty. He serves as the Executive Director of our Center for Global Business. J. Picken and D. Deeds serve as the Executive Director and Academic Director, respectively, for the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UTD. In addition, at the UT System, M. Peng, as the UTD representative, serves as a member of the UT System Globalization Task Force and participates in initiatives that will enhance the UT System-wide "footprint" in the world.

If we add Management Science (MS), our ranking is improved—the reason being six MS hits published by UTD colleagues in 2007, one of which is by OSIM's Lin et al. (2007).
