Accounting and Information Management Center for Excellence
The Center is a unit of
the Accounting and Information Management (AIM) Area of the University of Texas at Dallas' School of Management. All full-time
faculty in the AIM Area are responsible for the oversight of the Center's activities and the establishment of the Center's objectives
and goals for its activities. Input from external constituencies is obtained via the AIM Area's Executive Advisory Council.
Activities
The relationship between accounting and information management continues to evolve in the business environment. It is more important than ever to ensure the quality of the information provided to investors, business managers and other decision-makers. As a result, the Center will sponsor research, curriculum development, and pedagogical innovation projects of the Accounting and Information Management faculty that contribute to the understanding of how business information is generated, aggregated, reported and interpreted in managing operations within an organization, competing in an industry, and valuing businesses and activities in capital markets. In order to promote innovation in accounting and information management, the Center will support and sponsor short executive education programs. These programs will feature interactive communication of fundamental as well as cutting edge ideas between academic researchers and business leaders.
As a service to the accounting and information management community in the Dallas area, the Center will engage in outreach activities. The Center will offer opportunities for professionals to enhance their skills through seminars and other events that provide continuing professional education. In addition, a training program may be implemented to assist accounting and information management teachers at local high schools and community colleges.
