The
Center is housed in the School of Management at the University of Texas at
Dallas. Professors Rajiv Banker and Indranil Bardhan are the Executive
Directors of the Center. Because of the interdisciplinary emphasis of the
Center's activities, it attracts faculty from several different areas of the
School of Management, including AIM, MSIS, Marketing,
OSIM, and Finance/MECO. To fulfill the Center's integrated agenda for
research and education, members of the Center may be drawn also from
Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, and other units of UTD, as
well as from other universities and institutions. The Center's collaborative efforts are aimed at organizing and facilitating interdisciplinary software management research integrating software economics, software engineering, information management and management control, developing a unifying framework, and establishing software management as a new discipline in its own right. The Center also seeks to include corporations, industry associations and research institutions to collaborate in its research effort. Collaboration with such industry partners takes several forms, including sponsorship of research projects to tackle important problems facing industry practitioners as well as providing access to empirical data. Collaboration with other research institutions takes forms including joint research proposals on large-scale projects and sharing of information resources and personnel. This enables the Center and the University to forge strong industry partnerships and provide a forum to demonstrate thought leadership in the area of software management and economics. |
