Kenneth Lewis, Distinguished Alumni 2000
Mr. Lewis is president of Chiaro Networks, Ltd., a high-tech start-up in the Richardson Telecom Corridor. However, his ties to UTD were established through his previous employer. When Alcatel USA joined The School of Management as a Strategic Partner in 1998, Mr. Lewis became the company's representative on the School's Advisory Council. His contributions as a council member helped shape the future of the Strategic Partners program.
"Ken was always extremely accessible to the School," says Dr. McNulty. "His participation set the standard and served as an example for other members to follow."
Mr. Lewis attended UTD on a part-time basis, and he graduated with a master of science in business administration in 1980.
Mr. Lewis's successful career in the high-tech industry began in the United States Air Force. He achieved the rank of captain and served as a communications electronics engineer. During his twenty-two-year tenure at Alcatel, Mr. Lewis held several positions of prominence, including senior vice president of strategic planning and senior vice president of the Transmission Products Division. He currently works with the Chiaro team to develop and deploy new technologies.
