Medical Cost and Performance Management

Participants in class collaborating and using computers and chartsTraditional financial statements don't provide the information needed to effectively manage medical costs. This course develops powerful tools to measure and control costs and improve overall operating performance. Participants learn to:

  • identify the major cost drivers in a healthcare organization
  • evaluate the profitability of individual medical services
  • use cost information to set prices and provider compensation
  • use a balanced scorecard to track both financial and non-financial performance

This course is eligible for 4 hours of graduate academic credit and up to 32 hours of Category 1 CME credit toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award.
