SOM Career Management Center
Careers & Employment
School of Management (SOM) students have two career offices at UTD to serve their needs: The SOM Career Management Center (CMC), (SM 2.301) and the centralized UTD Career Center located on the lower level of the McDermott Library (MC 1.312). The two offices work in tandem to serve the large Business School population. All current SOM students may access the services of both centers at no charge.
The SOM Career Management Center (CMC) focuses on options and resources to meet the special needs of MBA's and graduate business students. However, all School of Management students can participate in and benefit from the SOM CMC services. SOM students should also become familiar with the services of the UTD Career Center for maximum advantage of the career resources available.
Early involvement in the Career Management process can be critical to the success of students. Participation in counseling, internships, career workshops, resume reviews and interview coaching can make a real difference in a competitive job market.
Companies visit the UTD campus every year to conduct job interviews, participate in Company Information Sessions, and connect with students at Career Fairs. Students should make it a policy to stay abreast of the employer activity on campus - checking the Bulletin Boards and websites.
Where do I start?
Every student should follow these 3 steps:
- Register for a UTD Career Works Web Account online, providing access to the campus career activities. Complete your account profile, identifying your special skills. When complete, a resume should be added to your file.
