The University of Texas at Dallas will host its second annual
Emergency Readiness Conference and Expo (ERC) on October 24-26,
2005 at the Plano Centre in Plano, Texas. This year’s conference
theme is interoperability of information systems during
emergencies, emergency preparedness for schools and
transportation, and an all hazards approach to disaster
medicine.
The three day conference will include keynote addresses by national, state and regional emergency management leaders, training workshops in chemical agents, hazmat refresher, school preparedness, and disaster medical management. The continental breakfast will include an opportunity for attendees to network with other emergency management professionals at conference topic tables. The first day’s morning plenary session will provide an overview of timely topics that relate to an all hazards approach to emergency preparedness and management on a national, state, and local level. Adjacent to the conference will be an exhibit hall where exhibitors will show their products and services. Highlighting ERC 2005 will be keynote addresses by Former Under Secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Asa Hutchinson and State Coordinator for the Texas Governor’s Division of Emergency Management Jack Colley.
Full schedule of speakers, topics and workshops.
This year’s conference is the second in a series of planned
annual conferences that promote an all hazards approach to
Homeland Security. The ERC promotes the overarching principles
of multi-sector coordination of emergency readiness activities,
public-private partnerships, and innovative applications of
communication and information technologies while addressing
specific program tracks related to homeland security. The first
ERC held in August of 2004 successfully focused on Hazardous
Materials and Weapons of Mass Destruction, Medical Emergency
Management, and Aviation Security.
The UTD School of Management, Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science, UTD School of Social Science and sponsoring organizations are committed to selecting topics, speakers, and presentations that address critical, emerging readiness needs, potentially applicable technologies, and management strategies.
