Techniques and Resources for Detecting and Reducing Plagiarism
- Have the students provide you with a writing sample early in the course.
- Ask each student to provide an introduction and describe their background and interest in the course.
- Explain in the course syllabus that UTD professors can use "Turn It In", an Internet plagiarism resource for faculty.
- Explain in detail what plagiarism is and what an "original" paper is and how to write a research paper.
