Guidelines for Application Submission

Submit the following to:

• Completed MBA Application form, which includes personal, citizenship, residency, educational, and employee information; you may submit your application online along with your essays and resume at https://cmba.utdallas.edu/apply/

• UTSW MD/MBA Advisor' s endorsement letter

• Three confidential letters of recommendation

• Essays- 2 mandatory and 1 optional; format and topics are stated at the bottom of page 1 of the application

• One official academic transcript from every post-secondary institution attended

• Current resume.

• A certified copy of the MCAT score report will be accepted in lieu of the GMAT score report

• A $50 non-refundable application fee made payable to the University if Texas at Dallas

• International students may have additional requirements; please contact the Cohort MBA Program Director for details

Combined MD/MBA Degree Program

The MBA The Master of Business Administration degree provides students with a broad managerial education drawing from all business disciplines. The 53 credit hour program consists of 29 hours of required core courses and 24 hours of elective course work that may include a concentration of up to 12 hours in a selected area. Students may complete the degree on a full-time basis by taking a leave of absence from medical school, usually after their third year.

Full-time Cohort MBA Program Second year UTSW (MS2) students intending to pursue the MBA program on a full-time basis must meet with their MD/MBA advisor by April 1 to plan their ‘Leave of Absence’ for their intended MBA studies at UTD at the completion of MS3 year of medical school. Accepted students will attend MBA classes for one academic year following MS3, then return to UTSW for MS4. The full-time Cohort MBA Program follows a locked-step progression whereby the sequence of core courses, as well as the number of academic hours to be taken per semester, are specified by the Program. All core classes in the full-time Cohort MBA Program are offered during the day.

Applications for this program must be completed and submitted to the MD/MBA Advisor at UT Southwestern Medical School in the Fall semester of MS3 year of medical school. The advisor’s endorsement will be required by the UTD-MBA admissions committee. Applicants submitting their applications by the early submission deadline of October 15 will be informed of admission decisions by November 30. Early submission of all application material is strongly recommended. Applicants submitting their application by the regular submission deadline of December 1 will be informed of admission decisions by January 15.
