Executive MBA Faculty

UT Dallas has an internationally renowned faculty committed to teaching in the Executive MBA program. Faculty members chosen to teach in the program are leading scholars, and many are consultants in their areas of expertise. Several of the faculty are editors or serve as editorial board members of professional and academic journals. Faculty from other areas in the university and adjunct professors also teach in the program. Our goal is to ensure that the Executive MBA program has the best faculty available.

Jonathan Hochberg

Dr. Jonathan M. Hochberg is the Associate Director of the Executive MBA program at UTD and a Senior Lecturer in Global Business who holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree in International Business from the George Washington University and an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology and Distance Education from the Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Hochberg lectured as a Fulbright Scholar in Uruguay in the MBA Program at the ORT University in 1998 and spent time as a Mid-Career Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University in 1992.

He has a diverse professional background including six years of emerging market project finance experience with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), six years as an international management consultant, and over ten years as a professor of global business courses. He teaches Global Business, Multinational Firm, and International Corporate Finance. He is the Founder & Executive Director of Trees for Humanity, a non-profit 501(c)(3) that collaborates with corporate sponsors and elementary schools for kids to plant trees to offset global warming and climate change.

John McCracken

Dr. John McCracken formerly served on the faculty of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, as an investment banker with a Wall Street firm and as a corporate senior financial officer. He has more than a decade of experience in the workout and turnaround management of distressed healthcare and financial services organizations. At UT Dallas he serves as director of the Alliance for Medical Management Education, a strategic partnership between The School of Management and UT Southwestern Medical Center. McCracken holds a master's degree from the London School of Economics and a doctorate from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2005, Executive MBA students chose him to receive the Teaching Excellence Award.

Diane McNulty

Dr. Diane McNulty is associate dean for external affairs and corporate development in The School of Management, executive editor of MANAGEMENT Magazine and senior lecturer in business policy. She holds a doctorate in business policy from The University of Texas at Dallas. McNulty's interests center on ethics, business policy, and business-government relations.She serves on several community boards and has varied experience consulting for non-profit organizations.

Richard Miller

Dr. Richard Miller began his career in finance with Standard Oil of Indiana and then joined RCA in corporate management and organizational development. He received his doctorate at Harvard Business School. From there he moved to Southern Methodist University where he co-designed the SMU Executive MBA program. Later, he became director of the Executive MBA program at Wake Forest University and designer and academic dean of the Northwood University Executive MBA program. He has won outstanding teacher awards at each of these schools. He teaches leadership, management and strategy at UT Dallas and was the first recipient of the UT Dallas Executive MBA Teaching Excellence Award in 2004.

B.P.S. Murthi

Professor Murthi is an associate professor of marketing and served as coordinator of the marketing area in The School of Management. He obtained his doctoral degree from Carnegie-Mellon University and is an expert in the analysis of scanner data and brand choice models. His research also deals with consumer promotions, market segmentation and first-mover advantages. He recently started working in the area of electronic commerce.

Mike Peng

Dr. Mike Peng is the Provost's Distinguished Professor of Global Strategy at UT Dallas. He also serves as executive director of the Center for Global Business. Peng has published more than 40 articles and authored three books, including Global Strategy. He serves on editorial review boards of several journals, and is editor-in-chief of the Asia Pacific Journal of Management. Peng holds a doctorate in strategy from the University of Washington.

Sheila Amin Gutierrez de Pineres

Dr. Sheila Amin Gutierrez de Pineres is associate provost for enrollment services and associate professor of economics and finance. Her research focuses on the economic development of Latin America with an emphasis on macroeconomic trade issues, the role of international liberalization (trade and financial), and political stability in maintaining sustainable economic growth. Pineres, who earned a doctorate in economics from Duke University, has published articles in numerous scholarly journals. She teaches global economy in the Executive MBA program.

Ram Rao

Dr. Ram Rao is UT Dallas's Founders Professor of Marketing. He received his doctorate from Carnegie-Mellon University, has written more than 50 papers and serves on the editorial boards of leading journals including Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Research and Journal of Business and Economic Statistics. He is a recognized authority in the field of competitive marketing strategy and retailing. His current research and consulting is in the area of marketing and competition models for electronic commerce. He previously served as associate dean for academic programs in The School of Management.

Jane E. Salk

Jane Salk is an associate professor of international management at The University of Texas at Dallas. She earned her doctorate at MIT and has served on the business school faculties at Duke University and ESSEC in Paris. Salk was the 2006 corecipient of the Palgrave-Macmillan Decade Award which recognizes the most influential research published by the Journal of International Business during the past decade. She has published in many other journals including Academy of Management Journal, Human Relations, Journal of International Business Studies and Organization Science and Strategic Management Journal. She teaches strategic management in the Executive MBA program and her current research includes a study of the alliance research field as a community of knowledge and the Internet's role in advancing innovation and entrepreneurship.

David Springate

David Springate serves as interim director for Executive MBA in the School of Management and teaches in the areas of finance and international management studies. Springate holds a doctorate in corporate finance from Harvard Business School and has held faculty appointments at IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, and Southern Methodist University. He was manager in a Swiss financial investment firm and president of Vernon Capital Corp. Springate has delivered 150 short seminars for executive groups and corporations and his articles have appeared in Columbia Journal of World Business, The Financial Review and Health Care Management Review. He received the 2006 Executive MBA Teaching Excellence Award.

Richard Tozer

Dr.Richard Tozer is a lecturer in business policy and consultant who helps owner-managed companies develop strategies to produce consistent growth in sales and profits. His doctorate is from Harvard Business School and he previously was assistant to the chief executive officers of a NYSE-listed company.

John Wiorkowski

Dr. John Wiorkowski is professor of mathematical statistics and serves as associate provost at The University of Texas at Dallas. Wiorkowski, who received his doctorate at The University of Chicago, is an experienced consultant in statistical applications.
