Graduate Admissions Requirements
Requirements for admission to degree-seeking status
Applicable to all masters degrees in the School of Management.
- An application submitted online at http://www.utdallas.edu/admissions/graduate/. For deadlines please go to http://www.utdallas.edu/enroll/apply/fees.php.
- An official and competitive GMAT or GRE (with program approval) score report no more than 5 years old by date of application is required of all applicants who do not possess a Doctoral degree. There is no exception to this requirement.
- Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended, certified, signed or stamped by the Registrar and sent directly to the UTD Registrar are required of all candidates for admission. The transcript from the degree granting institution must show conferral of degree. One copy of each transcript is required from all applicants. Transcripts must also be submitted from any graduate programs in which the prospective student was enrolled. There is no exception to this requirement.
- An official english proficiency test (TOEFL, PTE, IELTS) score report completed no more than two years prior to application to UTD School of Management is required of all international students. There is no exception to this requirement.
- A resume detailing the applicant's employment history is required of all applicants.
- Letters of recommendation from 3 people (employers, community leaders, teachers, etc), are required of all applicants.
- One page essay outlining the applicant's academic interests and goals is required. This can be submitted online with your application.
All applications will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee to guarantee the selection of the most qualified applicants based upon a review of the items listed above.
Non-Degree Seeking students
Students that desire admission as a non-degree seeking student must meet all the admission requirements specified above for degree seeking students, including all relevant test scores (GMAT or GRE (with program approval), TOEFL, PTE, or IELTS). Students who decide to switch to degree seeking status will have to apply to the degree program. If they are admitted, at most six credit hours taken as a non-degree seeking student can be transferred to the degree program.
Please note the following special conditions of non-degree seeking and conditionally accepted students.
- Students in this country on an F1 or J1 Visa may only be admitted to degree seeking status. Please consult with the International Admissions Office if you are in doubt concerning your status.
- No more than six credit hours taken as a non-degree seeking student within the School of Management at UT-Dallas may be applied towards a Master's Degree. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Prerequisites for all School of Management, Master's Degree programs
Completion of MATH 5304 or the undergraduate equivalent, (MATH 1325) with a grade of "B" or better is a prerequisite for all Masters level programs. Students who do not have this requirement may be admitted into the school, but must satisfy it within the first 12 hours of UTD course work. There is no exception to this requirement. Certain programs within the School of Management may require additional prerequisites. Contact the Advising Office for details.
