Director's Message

Overview

We all know the critical importance of leadership at all levels and in all types of organizations, and we know the tragedy of failed leadership. We believe that leadership can be learned and a leader’s effectiveness can be improved. We also believe that ethical leadership, based on sound values, is good leadership.

The University of Texas at Dallas, under the auspices of The School of Management, has established The Leadership Center at UTD. The university's vision is to bring the body of knowledge on leadership, combined with the actual experience of leaders, to students who aspire to be future leaders and to executives who wish to hone their leadership skills. The center’s purpose is to combine the body of knowledge on leadership with the real world experience of recognized leaders.

The Leadership Center at UTD offers courses and seminars, sponsors a speakers program and supports academic research.

Courses

The center’s courses are open to graduate and selected undergraduate students at UTD, as well as to practicing executives.

Executive Seminars

Executive seminars address the continuing education needs of senior executives as well as provide the opportunity to interact with like-minded professionals.

“Excellence in Leadership” Speakers Program

A major goal of The Leadership Center at UTD is to provide a forum in which nationally recognized scholars and business leaders can share their experiences. An “Excellence in Leadership” speakers program features speakers who represent the center's goals and ideals.

Research

The Leadership Center at UTD supports and sponsors multi-disciplinary research that extends the body of knowledge and understanding of successful leadership.
